Active Directory Migration Tool

I have been given the task to incorporate the profile from a domain (Westside) to a new domain (Alliance)  I have tried to establish a trust but I can only manage to establish an outgoing one.  The ADMT will not establish a connection between the two domains and I assume it is because of the trusts.  I need instructions on how to run the ADMT.  What needs to be set up first and what steps, if any, are needed to establish the trusts.

ps the domains are not child/parent.  they are in different forests.

It is possible to create cross-forest trusts.  Make sure both domains are at windows 2003 functional level in order to accomplish this. You can do this from AD users and computers or I believe AD Domains by right clicking the domain and choosing "Raise functional level" select 2003 native. Then you should be able to go into AD domains and trusts, right click the domain and there should be a properties selection.  Once you get there you'll find a trust wizard, or, you can manually create the trust if you have credentials on both domains.

ok.. that did seem to be part of my problem.  I am now able to establish incoming and outgoing trusts with the Westside domain, but my goal was not solved.  I am trying to migrate users from the Westside domain to the Alliance domain.  When I run the wizard, it sees the Westside domain, but does not find any DCs.  I am left with the option of <any domain controller>.  It, of course, sees the Alliance domain and it's
DC (I am on it) but when I try to run the ADMT I get the following error:

The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.  Error code=1355, domain=Westside

use the full netbios name of the domain and also cerate forwarders for each domain on the perspective DNS servers.
