Exchange 2003 addresses dissapearing from GAL in some users' Outlook

We are using Exchange 2003 with different versions of outlook (mostly 2003)  on workstations. we have been having an issue where some addresses are disappearing from the GAL (when you click on "To:") in a few of our users' Outlook. It seems to be random, and some users will see the address and others won't. Any ideas?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It might be a sync issue with the offline address books.  This very often the case if it is occurin on only a few clients.  When you have a client that it is occuring on, turn off cache mode and restart the computer.  Does the client see the address again?  If so then it is an issue with the offline address syncing (just some setting changes)  If it doesn't help then it may be a replication issue.  Also should be an easy fix.

Test it and let us know.  Don't forget to put the clients back into chacked mode when you are done with the test.

On a client on which the problem is occurring, try manually downloading the address list by going to -> Toosl -> send/receive -> download address book and select full details.
This will download a fresh address list.
It should update fine again now.
I have experienced this on 1 or 2 clients before.
