Scripted/unattended creation and configuration of a new SMTP Virtual Server on Exchange 2003 server

Hi
I am looking for a way to script (or automate in any way) the creation of a new SMTP Virtual Server on many existing Exchange 2003 servers. The idea is to create a new SMTP Virtual Server and to configure this to allow anonymous access but only allow mail from one specified machine on a specified port. It is crucial that this can be done by script or command line (I prefer VBS, so if this is possible I would be grateful :-)

Thanks in advance

Hello webfly_,

This addresses the second part of your question (scripting the ACL)

Thanks for your answer JimboEfx

I have looked all over for a solution for a way to automate the creation and configuration of a new virtual SMTP server without any luck. Is this really an impossible task to accomplish?
I cant believe that Microsoft doesnt have a way to automate this task. I will now try to create a support case for this at Microsoft. I will post the result here.
I don't know that it is impossible - fact is that most exchange server configuration is held in AD.

TBH I'm not sure this is something I would want to script (ACLs are OK) but scripting an infrastructure service invites all sorts of possibility of error.

I'll be interested to know what MS come  back with.

According to Microsoft this can not be done programmatically...
