How to migrate Document Library in Groupwise to Microsoft Exchange or any Microsoft product?

We are in the process of migrating from Novell's Groupwise to Exchange 2007.

We need to migrate a huge amount of "Document Library" from Groupwise to Microsoft product.
Is it possible to move this data into Exchange 2007?
If not, what micorsoft product is suitable/equalent to this? - May be Sharepoint 2007.

Please let me know the details in steps or any web link to proceed.

Thanks in advance.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Exchange has no equivalent to GroupWise Document Management.

Looks like you might have to spend more money on more Microsoft software and get Sharepoint.

How best to get the documents out of GroupWise DMS and into SharePoint, I don't know.   There are third-party migration tools out there, so you'd be looking at even more money.  A quick search turned up  - I don't see anything specific to the task from the kind folks at Redmond.

Probably be way cheaper and easier to stick with GroupWise, but you gotta do what you gotta do, I suppose.

If you didn't go with some sort of competitive upgrade deal to switch to Exchange, why not keep both, and use the GroupWise Gateway for Exchange?

Thanks a lot for your reply.
Already we have Sharepoint 2007 for our intranet website, documents, discussion board and schedules.

I need to check with few people here for your seggestion.
I hope if we hold GW only for Document Library, we need to pay for the same.
Can we access this documents from Outlook?

Note: I'm quite new to Groupwise and Novell.

Generally, GroupWise is licensed per active user mailbox, and if you didn't commit those licenses to another system as part of a competitive upgrade deal, they are perpetual licenses, meaning they don't expire.

As to accessing GroupWise document management documents via Outlook... Document management, not being a native component of Outlook/Exchange, was never added to the Outlook Connector for GroupWise.    It's a function that's only fully accessible with the GroupWise client.

Hi ShineOne,

I want to know more information about the DMSMigrator tool. I went to the link and found a bare bones web page, and an email address that bounces back. Do you know anything about this tool, and how to get ahold of the developer?
