How can you edit the Service Tag number for a VMware workstation?
I need to change the Service Tag number for a VM station.
Certain software is installed on computers with certain Asset service tags.
I am using Windows XP sp2 as Host and i have also Windows XP sp2 as guest installed, but the Asset Tag is "VMware *****" (where * = number)
Please help me work this out.
Thanks in advance.

I believe you can change this in the BIOS of the VMWare guest - not 100% certain if this works with workstation/server though, as I'm only using ESX at the moment.
Not able to do this in the Server version, i just tried this.
However i have no clue if we can actually change this on the workstation / server version.
Goodluck.

That works nicely on a dell Laptop. i need it for a VM workstation.
I have tried all sorts of things: Bios editors, Asset tag.exe.....tried editing the .vmx file....nothing so far.
IF there is a way and i find it, i will tell you about it, you never know when you need it ;)
