We have Exchange 2003 with a Barracuda SpamFirewall as the Gateway. I need to enabled SMTP/TLS and I am trying to get a signed cert for this to install on my Barracuda. My question is we send email from our server from two different domains. <br />

What kind of cert will validate both email domains? I just worry that if I buy a cert that says mail.address1.com when someone from @address2.com sends a TLS email the cert will not match the address and that could cause some problems.<br />

What type of CERT do I need for TSL?

Interactions between email servers and clients are governed by email protocols. The three most common email protocols are POP, IMAP and MAPI. Most email software operates under one of these (and many products support more than one).  The correct protocol must be selected, and correctly configured, if you want your email account to work.

Exchange is the server side of a collaborative application product that is part of the Microsoft Server infrastructure. Exchange's major features include email, calendaring, contacts and tasks, support for mobile and web-based access to information, and support for data storage.

Encryption is the process of encoding messages or information in such a way that only authorized parties can read it. In an encryption scheme, the intended communication information or message, referred to as plaintext, is encrypted using an encryption algorithm, generating ciphertext that can only be read if decrypted. For technical reasons, an encryption scheme usually uses a pseudo-random encryption key generated by an algorithm. An authorized recipient can easily decrypt the message with the key provided by the originator to recipients, but not to unauthorized interceptors.
