Bath New Copy Mail Database in Lotus Domino

I want to schedule the Domino Admin Client or Lotus Notes Client to run bath new copy of some
mail databse file at mid-night.
For example, auto do new copy of database file had size from 600MB to 700 MB to another file server every night.
Any idea how can i do this? by lotus script or third party tools?

Read carefully! These two commands should be executed:

set config CLUSTER_ADMIN_ON=1
CL copy abc.nsf cde.nsf

I'm sorry I don't quite understand (it's maybe the expression "bath new copy", or is it batch?). Excuse me if I'm mistaken, but please don't use a Web translator service, you'd better explain in your own words.

You want a new copy of a mail database? Every night, or just once? If this is to happen on the Notes client side in the middle of the night, the client has to be running at that time.

Things can be scheduled on the server using a Program document. Open the Admin client, then see Configuration, Server, Programs. And consult the Admin Help database on Program. This link might contain the info you want:,289483,sid4_gci1260146,00.html

By the way, why do you need that copy? There may be other ways to achieve what you want.
If you want to backup a specific Notes Mail DB nightly, you can use any third party backup tools that know  how to handle a Notes Open Database such as Symantec Veritas, Arcserver etc.

Or you can use a batch file to shut down the Dominos server service at night, use a simple xcopy batch file, and then turn the  Domino service back on.

I hope this helps !

The admin client does not have any capability like this. Neither does the regular client. I don't know of an external program that will do this using Lotus Notes access, though backups, as mentioned in other comments, can do this. you CAN create an agent to do this.

I do wonder why you are asking for this. It sounds as if you have a large file that you want to backup every night, and then reduce in size. Is that what you are doing?

Thanks All and sorry about the choas.
There are over hundred mail databse in the domino server. I need to reduce their size when it is touch 600MB from the server side every day. But the dabase should be make a new copy to other file server and will burn it to CD later. Also not all database need to do this, just some database in a list.

Thus i need a script or method to do a new copy of the specific databases automatically every day.
As we can not shutdown the Domino, i am looking for any domino command, lotus script or notes agents. I am new to Domino Lotus environment, please teach me the steps if you can. Thanks a lot.

Well you can choose the databases in the admin client, and tell it to create  a replica on another Domino server.

If you do not have another Domino server, then you will either need to shut down the Domino server while doing a manual copy ( Xcopy, robocopy batch file , and restart when the copy is done since ALL databases are held open by Notes.

Other options are any good 3rd party backup programs that use an Open file agent for Domino.

I hope this helps !

Hmm, I wonder if on the local server it would accept an OS path outside the Domino data directory? If so, it would help with his file server copy. Otherwise, no. (You could of course map a drive and create a diretcory link.)
