PCI SATA controller incompatibility issues with existing RAID miror?

I am installing a SATA controller PCI 32bit@ 33/66 MHz (Adaptec 1210SA or highpoint 1520).  The support information on the respective websites talk a lot about installing RAID management software and drivers.  I already have management software and drivers installed for the MB chip in RAID1.

Would appreciate feedback in relation to whether such an installation will interfere with existing RAID established on the MB.  The manufacturers talk about BIOS installations in the setup manual for most PCI cards.  There is nothing about incompatibility issues.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can have more than one raid controller installed, usually. The drivers and management software is controller and make specific, so you need to install both. You can't move raided drives from one controller to the other, except if it is the same model or make.
