Generic Host Process error

I am getting an intermittent error - Generic Host Process Error.

The event log contains:
Faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.2.3790.3959, faulting module msi.dll, version 3.1.4000.4042, fault address 0x00027fb5.

(I then start getting Group Policy Object error messages after that.)

When this occurs, the internet and email exchange still works OK on the local network, but the shared network folders are completely inaccessible from computers on the network. I have to reboot the server to resolve the problem.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
