MSN Messenger problem

Have been trying to log into msn messenger for the past week, have been unable to do so.

Following error message: Signing into windows live messenger failed because service is temporary unavailable. Please try later. Error Code 80040154

Have looked through and followed instructions by microsoft, but without success. However, msn web messenger is fine.

Any ideas??

You might want to try and reinstall msxml3 from this link

Hope it helps :)

Tried that link downloaded and installed the files and then did a restart of the system but still having same error message as above.

Have you tried re-installing MSN Messenger?

yes i have tried re-install several times but without luck, it seems that the file msxml3.dll is corrupt and I can't get info on how to reinstall this file

If that is unsuccessful the msxml3.dll may well be missing or corrupt, as you suspected. In that case you could follow the steps shown here.
Scroll  down to the entry which is credited to Stephen Holm dated 23 July 2007 >>

1) Go to the 'Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 Service Pack 7 (SP7)' download page at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=28494391-052b-42ff-9674-f752bdca9582&DisplayLang=en
2) From the files available, download msxml3.msi
3) Double click the file and follow the steps to install.
4) After the install is complete, click 'Start' button, then 'Run...'
5) In the Run window, Type: regsvr32 msxml3.dll <Click OK>
