Mac BootUp Problem

When I leave the computer shut down for more than a few minutes it will not start without me removing the power cord momentarily. When I press the Start button it lights once for half a second. Sometimes I have to press the Reset button on the motherboard.
I have replaced the motherboard battery.

Any ideas?

This has to be a hardware issue. My first bet would be your PS is on its last legs. This is too bad as these are so oddly shaped as to be pretty expensive to replace new. I have seen them going for as much as 300 new and even pulls on ebay with little to no warranty will go as high as 150. I found one at Daystar for 150 that they say is new but they want your old core to get that price. This apple thread discusses testing your PS and contains a link to the service manual procedure. I would make this a priority to test this as a
PS can sometimes fail so catastrophically as to take other  components with it. There are also services that will repair your PS so if you send it in now it might be cheaper than when it dies in a big way. Naturally, it would not hurt to pull and reseat memory and cards but this sure sounds like a dying PS.
