OWA on Vista stopped working for no good reason!

I have been accessing office email from my Vista laptop via OWA successfully for several months, but its suddenly stopped working. Here are the details:

The stored link I use is in the form: https://<server fixed ip address>/exchange/paul/inbox
When I click on it, the laptop hangs for exactly one minute with the hourglass spinning, then unhangs without any messages. Typing the link in the browser produces the same effect.

If I connect to the office VPN from the same laptop first, the ip address link still fails, but I can gain access using https://<servername>/exchange/paul/inbox  (this is not a permanent solution though, because I don't always have access to the VPN).

Testing the OWA connection from an XP laptop works fine.

I don't know whether this really is a Vista issue (but most problems with my laptop are!), or just something else gone wrong on my laptop?

Any suggestions kindly welcome.

I had a similar problem, seems the problem is with the browser (IE7 and IE6 plus updates).
I solved the problem by using Firefox (at least version 2).
Or, you can try the updates of Exchange Server with service pack 2 + other hotfix

>>https://<server fixed ip address>/

Can you not use a server name that corresponds to the certificate?
