SpinRite: How To Create the Bootable CD-ROM for Hard Disk Recovery Tool

System: Windows XP SP2
Nero CD/DVD ROM Burning Software, v6

I've created the SpinRite.iso boot image using SpinRite software.
I launch Nero StartSmart and select CD-ROM Boot Disk creator.
I select the ISO image.
I don't know what to do with the "Advanced" Settings.

The defaults are,
   - Floppy Emulation 1.44 MB
   - Load Segment of Sectors at 0x07C0
   - Number of loaded Sectors: 1

I've tried my own options,
   - Hard Drive Emulation and No Emulation (drop down box choices)
   - Load Segment of Sectors at 0x07C0
   - Number of loaded Sectors: 1

With all three, the boot process fails just after the BIOS loads. Message says: Can't find the operating system or just blank.

try img burn instead.
It is compact and much easier to use than Nero when it comes to burning ISO's

With an ISO file it (should) already have the boot image in there, you want to "Burn Image" not "Create Bootable CD"

   - Number of loaded Sectors: 4

Nero 6.0

CD ROM -> Copy & Backup -> Burn Image to Disc

(DVD might also work)

The image has to contain any applications you want to run once it boots.

The Nero application won't allow you to add anything.  If you don't finalize the disc, then you might be able to add something later.  I didn't try that, however, so I'm not sure.

In the case of SpinRite, it turns out the executable file was already included in the image.
