asked on
changing the bar chart color
Hello Experts,
Up to this point I have been forced to accept the default bar chart colors in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. Is there any way to force my own colors?

You can acheive this by setting the colors by using Appearance/Series style and fill colors, for the value plot.
Yes. In Visual Studio in Report Designer right-click the chart placed on your report. Go to Properties. Then click on Data tab. I you have any values there click Edit... Then go to Appearance tab and click Series Style... There you can find Fill tab which contains settings you are looking for.
Right click on your chart, go to data tab, select the "Values" , go to appearance tab, click on series style, select fill color. from here you can customise your own colors that are to be used by the chart. for series fill colors

If I do this I can change the color but this affects all series. For example if I set light blue then all my bars are light blue and this does help me to differentiate between the series. The auto setting will set a different color to each series. I have three different category fields and I would like to specify a differenct color for each.

You can use expressions for the fill color field, iif(Fields!category.value= xx,'RED',. ..)
