Dell Internal tape drive DAT 72 - Ejects non dell tape right away when inserted.

we bought a new set of tapes for our backup. usually we buy our tapes from Dell but this time we bought a different brand. When this new tapes are inserted on the drive, the drive ejects it right away. Is it the drive's problem or the tape?

Hello amcurso, check whether the inserted non dell tape are formatted by DDS-3, DDS-4 or DAT 72 because your tape drive supports only those formats.... If so, then try using any other tape into the same drive, if no problem exists, then the problem lies with the non dell tape that has been purchased, or if even the other tape doesnt function properly, then the problem lies with the tape drive....

Missed this question. The Tape drive is DAT 72 so does this mean that we can only use dat 72 tapes?
