Can't find ntbackups because they are not in restore wizard

I have been making backups of SBS 2003 for awhile now. I have to reformat the C: drive, and I had all of my data backed up on several external USB 2.0 hard drives. I am able to see these and browse to them easily. I do have all my data on the D: drive, which I did not reformat, but I do need some files from the backup.

When I bring up ntBackup and go to restore, I am able to browse to the backup, but I can't use it, because the backup window does not show any of the restores in the tree that is normally there. What good are doing backups if your C: drive were to crash and you couldn't access the backups. I hope this is clear.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

if you check your backups, (on another PC) do they show up as expected? with the normal size?

It's difficult for me to explain clearly. I think I will take a screen shot and upload it to the EE upload place.
