advice adding a 2003 DC to a 2000 domain with exchange 2003

I have a 2000 (with several 2003 member servers) domain that i wish to add my first 2003
domain controller.
When i try to promote the new server i am told to run adprep/ domainprep on server (null). im guessing it means my infrastructure master.
In that i have a 2003 Memberserver happily deployed as and exchange sever is  there
anything i need to look out for before pushing ahead.
many thanks

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

...and make sure you have working backups.

There is a known issue with upgrading the schema with ADPREP when installing your first 2003 DC into a 2000 domain if you are running Exchange 2000.  However with Exchange 2003 there are no issues.  You can run the ADPREP /forestprep on the schema master DC and adprep /domainprep on the infrastructure master.  It may terminate and tell you that the current version of the schema is newer than what you are trying to upgrade to....or it may just go ahead and do it.  Either way it shouldn't hurt.
