Crystal to Btrieve Database

We have an end user trying to connect a Crystal Report (version 11) to an old Btrieve 5.0 database.   On one station he has the "btrieve" file type available and the report(s) work fine.   On the second station there is no Btrieve file type, but he can use the "databases" file type and pick the DDF file.  When he does this he gets "unknown database connector" when he does a refresh on the report.

How do I get the "Btrieve" option to show up on the list of database choices?

Btrieve 5.0 had no ODBC driver.  As such, you have two options:
1) Some versions of Crystal Reports included their own Btrieve-level driver that might work.  However, most recent versions did NOT install this as a default, so you may have to re-run the CR setup utility to add this functionality.

2) If you have a newer version of Btrieve or Pervasive.SQL available, such as from another application like PeachTree, Macola, MAS90, or other such application, then you may have a newer ODBC driver available as part of the Pervasive database engine.  If that's the case, then use the ODBC driver that came with that environment instead.

For some white papers on how to set this up, and on how to find your database version, see http://www.goldstarsoftware.com/press.asp.

We solved the problem with a small number of DLLs and the w32mkde.exe file that were on the "working" machine.

Once those were in the folder on the new machine Crystal started to work again.
