DELL System Monitor

is there any monitor that I can use on dell servers to alert the admin in case of hard disk failure, over heating, etc.. I'm not sure if open manager does alerts.

Thanks

There is software you can use to send you alerts.  If you have Server Administrator or Array Manager on the server that is the place to start.  That can generate SNMP alerts as long as you have those services enabled for the OS.  Then, you install IT Assistant on another machine (preferably a client machine).  IT Assistant can be configured to monitor for those SNMP alerts with traps and will react with whatever you designate.  You can have it send emails, send a message to a pager, run a batch, whatever.  I think this may be the solution you are looking for.  I would recommend calling Dell and try to speak with their OpenManage queue who specializes in the Dell branded softwares.
