Which is better --- Symantec MultiTier Protection or TrendMicro?

We have a Microsoft Server2003 network with Exchange and are presently using Symanted Endpoint Protection for virus/anti spam.  Our license is up for renewal before too long and we are looking into TrendMicro's products.  Any recommendations?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

We used to use trends desktop antivirus and from prior experience I would not recommend any of their products. The new version killed the performance of the machines and had multiple problems which were not apparently fixed until months after release. After the year was up we switched suppliers and the machines ran much faster.

Trend have also started trying to sue other manufacturers over their use of their patent. Perhaps if their products worked better more people would buy them so they wont have to resort to suing their competitors.

I would not use either personally. But of the two options, I would always recommend Symantec over Trend Micro. (Just trust me - out of experience). If you  let me know what kind of environment you are using the computer in (ie: domain/company, peer to peer, personal computer, ect.), and what operating system it is using, I may be able to make some better suggestions.

My experience with Trend support was quite poor. I had trouble doing push installs and they didn't want to even start troubleshooting. They said go to the client and run....

My experience with Symantec has been much better.

I had my one client on Trend switch to SAV.

Thank you for your input. We will just tough it out with Symantec Endpoint and hope the bugs are eventually resolved.
