Add codec to ffmpeg

I have videos encoded with CDVC (Canopus codec). Mplayer and VLC on linux both can play it fine, but I have a program that uses ffmpeg and ffmpeg can't play it; says codec is unsupported.

Is there a way to add codec support to ffmpeg ? Can it use the same codec files that mplayer/vlc and others use?

Thanks
Mark

Nope
>>says codec is unsupported in the program:
then the problem has the problem.
ffmpeg is an open source codec in itself
ffmpeg enables you play video that require direct draw.
What's the program?
