What brand of Tape Backup Servers do you recommend.
What brand of Tape Backup Servers do you recommend. we have 2 Dell Powervault 122T DLT and have had many hardware malfunctions with them so looking for a good reliable tape backup server to replace them when they go down the next time. We are happy with all our other Dell Servers. These have been lemons.
Sony... They (back in the day) changed the way carrousels operate. Single motion, three moving parts., its great I have only praise for the new carrousels they have produced. We use a LIB-162. Never had a problem with the carousel itself. Verittas supports without any extra drivers.
Hope this helps, give us more info about your application and we direct more answers your way.

Hi
Here are Tape backup alternatives;

Since the other Dells are fine these two could have been a bad batch you can either get newer models from Dell again or as suggested try HP or Sony.
Hope this helps

I had probably 7 of 9 Dell units I worked with between 1999 and 2003 fail on me - one can hope they've improved, but based on your question, it doesn't sound like it.
We use LTO3 drives with HP LTO3 400GB tapes. In the last two years we have not had one problem.

I did have success with both HP and Overland tape backup units.
