Need to change domain name, without breaking exchange.
We have a single name domain name 2003 domain, with an Exchange 2007 server, we need to change to a true domain IE instead of ABC-ABC it needs to be ABC-ABC.com, however from what I've been reding from Microsoft, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925822/en-us if I change the domain name it will break exchange, I would really prefer not to reinstal exchange if possible

I wish Small Business Server was involved, unfortunately this is in an enterprise environment, with people all over the world getting email from us. Sadly whenever we named the domain originaly we didn't thfink that a single name domain name would be a problem. It is. we cadn't even install service pack 1 for exchange 2007 without it being changed.
I asked about SBS because you have this listed in the SBS zone, I will remove that now.
You need to change it, uninstalling exchange renaming the domain and reinstalling exchange is the best way to go. If I were you, and this is important, I would call Microsoft PSS and get a case open with them, it will cost ~$400, but it is money well spent.

if you change the domain name you will break your domain full stop, not just exchange. Unless you have a huge background in Directory services i wouldnt undertake this.....Rebuild my friend, its the only safe way of doing things for your scenario

I don't want to sound too stupid, compared to a genius......... But what exactly will it break full stop.
And by rebuild you mean backup the directory, and then create a new domain and import the directory into it?

That would work for sure and you don't have to worry about a bunch of hacks that may or may not mess up your system permanently.
Good luck with it mate, if you need a hand just holler
What you desire is not going to be a possibility. While you may be able to hack it up and get it mostly working, you will be so wildly unsupported that there is no telling what kind of problems you will have.
Is SBS involved here??
