Unable to bring up ACT! field list table in Word when creating a new template.

I'm using ACT! 2008 v.10.0 and Word 2003.

In ACT!, I click Write > New Letter/ E-Mail Template

A new Word document appears as Document1.doc.  I cannot seem to find any ACT! field list that allows me to drop in fields from ACT! into the Word document.

Prior to this in ACT! 2004, Word would just pop open with a floating field list that I could click to drop a field into the document.  So I'm not really sure WHERE to look to find this field list.

I went under Tools > Templates and Add-Ins
I see the ACT.dot  under Global templates and Add-Ins UNchecked.
So I checked it, click OK.  Nothing changes.

Thanks, GL.  I just attempted this fix and nothing appears under disabled items.  Also, I followed this article which also did not work.

trixits,

If the easy fixes don't work it almost always means you have to reinstall MS Word.

You've tried all the suggestions if the various links?

Was Word installed after ACT!? If so, you should uninstall and reinstall ACT!... ACT! only adds the Office links at time of install

I cant recall what was installed first originally.  I do know that ACT! was more recently upgraded than office.  I've tried reinstalling ACT! to no avail...

I was experiencing the same symptoms described in the initial question. We are using Office 2007 and ACT Premium 10.0.3.182, hotfix 1.

I remember finding that some registry settings weren't there as per http://tinyurl.com/yot9x8 (the patch for Word was for v2003, and I have v2007, but the registry settings are the same), but that was not sufficient.

Now getting at it again and I found this thread...

I finally fix the problem by going into the disabled add-in section as per  http://tinyurl.com/ywcc5t (from above), though the path is different in Word 2007 (Office menu/Word options/addins/Manage/deactivated items/goto - not sure of the exact item names as I am loosely translating from french Word 2007) and re-enabled the mscoree.dll along with the french speller which was also disabled!!

Closed out of there and started ACT. Bingo.

I could get the list of fields to appear, though I had to go to the add-in menu and choose to "show field list" from the ACT! add-in drop-down menu to make it appear.
