How to convert my Cisco 1240AG from lightweight to autonomous mode?

I recently bought a Cisco Aironet 1240AG access point off Newegg to replace a failed Netgear unit. I read the reviews and someone said it could be configured from a web interface. I haven't had any luck with http or https to the IP address this device is pulling down from our DHCP server. I read the description of the product again and I bought one in the lightweight mode, which looks to me like it needs to talk to some other piece of hardware to operate correctly. Can I "downgrade" this AP to autonomous mode so that I can configure and use it?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
