How can I import email rules from Outlook Express into Windows Mail?

Hi - is it possible to import  my mail rules from Outlook Express into Vista's Windows Mail? If it is,   how do I do this?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hello wesmanbigmig,

Outllook Express rules are stored in registry.  Windows Mail rules are stored in registry, in a different location.

So there is no way to migrate between the two email clients.  You have to recreate the rules manually.

Hope this helps!

Perfect - thank you war1!! I have found a way to import/export the rules between the two  mail clients using the link you supplied above - I have written a script in between that converts the Identity keys from WM to OE and then another one for OE back to WM. Thanks.
Glad to help, wesmanbigmiq!
I am trying to migrate a very large set of outlook express email rules to windows mail on a vista ultimate 64bit platform.  You indicated that you had developed a script that enabled this transfer.  Would it be possible for you to share this script with us so that others might be able to do the same without reinventing the same wheel?
Much appreciated for any help you can provide.
