I am setting up security and general server auditing for the first time, in a win 2003 site, not much prior experience as a sysadmin. I understand that there are some programs that may help format audit logs to make them easier to use. need suggestions.  I just want to stay on top of the system's performance and security and spend as little time doing it as possible.

I looked at that, it seems to be much more than I need, do you know of any less extensive programs to help me analyze logs?  all i want to do is be shown, and better, emailed, exceptions, like unsuccessful login attempts, etc.

Thanks, JayJay709,
Does it take a lot of system resources?  It looks like a very large program.   have a dell 6600 server, dual 1.6 g processors, 4g memory, running sql and 5 users on terminal services.  No exchange server.  No other database programs.  Do you think I would notice a decrease in performance if I install the System Centre?  I have 15 local users, 5 remote.

it is heavy, but i dont think its going to cause too many problems.....it is a bit call to buy that for 20 users though.....very pricey
