Upgrading Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 to 4.0 pre-install issues

Hello Experts,

We are trying to upgrade from Microsoft CRM 3.0 to 4.0 (due to some features we like) but the pre-installation "checks" fail with the following message:

The full-text indexes on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM database are not consistent with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 full-text indexes

We had never used (or created) a full text index. The first time we tried to upgrade the CRM, the pre-install reported that the full text index was missing, so I created a dummy one thinking it would solve the problem.
But it lead to the most recent message posted above and I have since deleted the full-text index I created.

I am not very SQL savvy but welcome any advice to get beyond this issue.

We are running this on SBS 2003 R2 Premium with SQL 2005.

Thanks!

Have you updated SQL 2005 with http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936305 ?

TechSoEasy,

Thank you for responding. This question went several days without a single comment and I thought it may be hopeless.

I looked through the installed programs/patches and did not find KB936305 installed.
Our currnet SQL 2005 build is at 3054.

I assume you think this may clear up the problem we are having?
I will go ahead and schedule the install.

Thank you so much!
I will keep you posted.

One other question...

I see MS has SQL build releases up tp 3215.
KB936305 (the one you brought to my attention) is only build 3175.

Would it just be best to bump our instance up to 3215?
Or are their reasons for incremental updates?

Thanks in advance.
For sure you want to bring it fully up-to-date, but to resolve your problem you need to have AT LEAST 3175.

TechSoEasy,

I can't find a link to download the patch you suggested. I could only find a request submission form on Microsoft's website. Any ideas where I could gain access to the patch?

TechSoEasy,

I just applied the update you mentioned, SQL 2005 Build is now at 2175.

I am getting the same error when running the CRM 4.0 installer.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks

TechSoEasy,

You ARE a Genius!

I disabled the Full text Indexing on the CRM database properties with the SQL Server Management Studio (didn't even realize it was an option) and ran the CRM 4.0 setup.
It no longer complains about the Full Text Indexing and now the "Next>" button is accessible.

One other question though before I close this.... everytime the CRM 4.0 pre-install check runs, it warns that:
"Setup has detected a pending computer restart. Skipping the restart might cause errors during Setup."
This happens no matter how many times I reboot. I figured I would just ignore it for the upgrade, but just wondered if you had encountered anything like it.

Thank you so much for your help!
I've not seen that with CRM 4.0, but apparently it does happen and it's not important:
