IE7 will not save settings

IE7 on XP sp2. I have changed the security settings for Internet Zone and Trusted Sites. When I open the browser the settings have been reset to original config. I also do not get the apply option.

I am a local admin on this machine and there is no Group Policy in place that would stop this. Please help!

I tried that. But the settings still reset after I customize them.

Or, might be easier to simply rename the local copy of the user profile, and have tehm login to rebuild the profile. If successfull, bring the mail/favs/desktop etc over to the new profile....

It is a brand new user. They dont really have any settings. But again I logged in with domain admin rights and had the same problem. I dont want to re-install IE but if I have to.

Hello sparkis,

Check if you have a local policy resetting the IE settings.

If no joy, check if you have a security program like antivirus or antispyware that are resetting the IE settings.  Temporarily disable security programs one by one and then test.

Hope this helps!

I did check both. Local policy is not set to disable setting changes for local admin. And Norton is not overiding the settings. norton is pushed out via SSC and the settings are generic for all machines. The issue is just this one machine.

Hi,
you can try with this...
try checking if you have the acrobat elements 7 pdf maker toolbar installed and remove it (only the toolbar).
This caused me some problem in softwares' personalizations.
Hope that can help.
ciao
