The internet connection freezes PC after minutes of navigation

My PC suddenly freezes when I am connected to the net. I tried to run an anti-virus check
fortunately It didnt show any virus.
At work where I used a LAN connection the problem is absent.
The situation is different at home where I use a wireless connection. The PC freezes after navigating for some minutes. I am unable to do anything. The only is to shut down the pc.
My operative system is Windows 2000. The updated anti-virus I used is AVG.
Any serious suggestion would be welcome.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling any wireless nic card drivers you may have installed.

Try turning off any firewalls you are using while browsing wirelessly.

You may also have a spyware / malware problem but it sounds more like a driver, card or LSP problem

Try to run LSP fix but make sure all of your  windows are closed when you run the software.

other anti malware utilities to try

Download  combofix.exe and save it to your desktop
Close any open browsers.
Before starting ComboFix disable and exit any anti-virus software, anti-spyware or any other security related software as they may interfere with ComboFix's operation.
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you and display it on your desktop called c:\combofix.txt. By default this log is located on your 'C' drive. Post that log in your next reply along with a fresh HJT log as well
Note:Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.
Combofix http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

Also go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt download hijack this run it and post the logfile here

If combofix reports it removed files then continue on through this if not then post it's logfile and a hijack this logfile

I would then get

http://www.ccleaner.com   download it and run it to clear out all the windows junk files and make the scans faster.

http://www.superantispyware.com download it update it and run it

http://security.kolla.de spybot s&d - download it install it (do not install tea timer, ) update it then run it

http://lavasoft.com - adaware - download it run it and then uninstall it
http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_installer_new.html?hl=en&gl=us&utm_source=en_US-et-more&utm_medium=et&utm_campaign=en_US&ciNum=11    - select to only download and install spyware doctor.

online anti virus scanners

http://www.pandasoftware.com   - panda activescan
http://www.bitdefender.com

Additionally I would download and run rootkit revealer if it comes up with anything odd post it up here.

A firewall is installed though not activated.
Here attached is the log file from Combofix.

ComboFix.txt
Are you using vidalia to go out to the internet if so by nature this is a slow connection and may appear or may freeze at times since you are going through several other computers on the tor network.

I would try disabling this and see if you still encounter problems
I had Vidalia. It has now been unisntalled including a firewall Jetico.
The result is unchanged.
Here attached is Hijackthiis log.
Which programs might be freezing the pc

Ok do you know what this is  if this website is not familar to you it needs to be removed.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://italian.eazel.com/index.php?rvs=hompag

also these if they are not familiar to you

Do you know this domain if not this needs to be removed!

        O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = risorse.enel

Do you know the IP or Domain 'risorse.enel'? If not, fix this entry.

      O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = risorse.enel

Does this only happen when connected by wireless at home what about if you connected it at home wired does the problem still occur ?
I would try to remove the start page http://italian.eazel.com/index.php?rvs=hompage completely from the pc
The other entries cann't be removes as I am familar with it.
At the jobside I don't experience the problem. The network is a LAN connection in a domain.
It only happens with wireless connections. I believe anywhere I go it would be the same if the connection is wireless.

I finally resolved the problem by installing the firewall ZoneAlarm.
When a strange request appears after minutes of navigation I block it.
The internet doesn't freeze again. I had installed the firewall Jetico but it never helped. I later on disabled with no positive reults.
I was once advised it's better than ZoneAlarm.
From my experience I think even the free version of it is simply the best.
What is the strange request you are getting ?
