Environmental error detected: The current Oracle Home and the Oracle Home passed from the installer are not the same

I'm trying to install 10.2.0.1 onto my Windows XP which already has 10.1.0.4.0.  I want both of them to run but I keep getting the following error when I install.
Environmental error detected: The current Oracle Home and the Oracle Home passed from the installer are not the same.  Net configuration Assistant cannot continue.

I'm not sure what to do.

Hi May1210,

It is all to do with the Windows Register, when installing new set of Oracle software, choose the correct "HOME0" or "HOME1" etc

You have to choose another directory for the new installation.
This directory is called ORACLE_HOME. It should be different from
all other installed Oracle products on the same computer.
So you have also to name this new ORACLE_HOME in the first
step installing the new Oracle.

Although it is possible it is not a good practice to install many Oracle products on
one PC machine. Oracle server is a huge product but your box is only a PC.

Also they both will use same PATH variable and so this can cause
confusing use of libraries and components.
