System Attendant service not starting.

Hi, We are running an exchange server 2003. All was ok only i had few problems with the backup onto a networked drive. I restarted all the servers, 2 DC and Exchange server that is windows server 2003. After the reboot I am having problems with exchange services. Specfically Exchange System Attendant service not starting. When i start it after some time it says service started but stoped again, few services will stop if they have nothing to do. NOW, becuase system attendant isnt working, information store is not working either. I also had 1 o2 errors in event log related to RPC, that RPC did not start, even though when I check in services RPC is started. I restarted system several times but of no use. Information store service does not start and error appears dependencies not started or something.

One thing i want to say, before restarting the system, i was erassing few users from Windows and Programmes security list ON THE DOMAIN CONTROLLER. There were few users which did not have proper names, they appeared like ACCOUNTS-02-GGV-92, this format. i removed those users from the access permission in securty of windows and programe folder on DC. did this cause any problem, if you suspect, plz let me know which account must have access on these folders on DC, so I can give permissions to them.

One thing about exchange is you have to fully bring up the GC first in the domain before you bring up the Exchange box. Give that a try.
Can you check the event viewer for errors?
Also check if you have enough free disk space to start the Stores on the drive on which they are located.
Normally; the exchange server services run as local system, so this could not prevent you from starting the services.
I deleted all the accounts of the IT Manager before me, and everything is still working on the old E2K3 server.

i have seen these entries in event log of domain controller. 1097 and 1030. something to do with group policy and machine does not have an account errors. I checked it and microsoft says install srvice pack 2. The company i am handling this server for has installed windows using a non-licenced windows, now they do have licenced windows server 2003. we want to upgrade this but i want to finish everything and install a fresh copy. is there anyway i can change the current product key with the fully licenced windows's product key. doing so i can save alot of hassle, and chances of losing data.

also when i try to log in through remote desktop i get error " RPC server not availavle, contact administrator".

any suggestions in all this scenario. email server isnt working because of this ptroblem, all else seem fine. maybe exchange isnt connecting to DC cus of these issues.
what dc is the gc?
Check this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832215
It describes your errors.
Also check if accidentally Windows Firewall is not enabled or in case you are using an Anti Virus with a built in Firewall, check this to.
Also make sure the antivirus scan of the OS (not the exchange AV) is not checking the EDB files (set exceptions on the Exchange DB Dir).

For changing the license key, I don't know where this can be done in 2K3, but I guess in the registry you should be able to find something.  But I think the safest and easiest way is a reinstallation of Win Srv.
dc2 is the GC. I think due to some unknown reasons, dc1 is not connecting as well. when i do some changes inside dc2 user acounts, i get the message RPC server not available on dc1 or something. I think this is due to unavailability of net logon service, and net logon wotn start bcus workstation service isnt working, and workstation service does not start and gives error id 1075.
Did you deinstall anything on that server?
Check dependencies of wks service and see on what services it depends on.  Probably one of the services listed is "marked for deletion" (this is what the error means).
Also check if there are services running with a specified logon account (an AD account istead of local service or network service).  Check if the account exists and if the service is running.
Try also telnet dc2 389 (to see if the server can reach ldap protocol on dc2) in a Command Prompt.  If OK, you will receive nothing, if not ok, you will receive an error.
how is dc2? Who has the roles for the organization? do a dcdiag and see what is going on?
Yes, one the servces listed is marked for deletion, thats the message, BUT insode workstatio dependencies, there is only one warning mark (yellow mark) there is no service in there. how do i check what service chould be there?
The Workstation service does not depend on other services (normally).
If this service does not start, check this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/197157
If you use 2 NIC's, make sure they are teamed up or that you are just using one.
no guys.................. nothing seem to be working. I really need solution to this now PLEASE. no emails for last 6 days now. 2 dc. i have updated the faulty one to sp2 and other updates, still same problem. bcus workstation service does not start other services dont start either. when i log in it takes alot of time on "preparing network connections" both NIC are working. dc2 cannot access other pcs and other pcs cannot access dc2. in ping its all right, i can ping dc2 from dc1, but when i click start, Run, \\dc2, error appears nothing such as found. when i VPN to the netrok i can VNC dc2, no problem, that means at leats its on the network. why why why services are not starting. tell me anything to check for permissions, rights or anything. i have tried so many things so far. error i get every some time is 1073 "no computer account information and group policy something something" . alot of other problem are on the network bcus of dc2 is not accessible. please reply soon.
