create virtual directory in IIS 6

HI all,
I have a 750GB external USB 2 hardrive. When it's connected, it will appear to be a separated partition in my windows server 2003.
What i'm gonna do is that to :"link" it to IIS website by creating Virtual Directory and point its physical path toward the external drive.
However, (alias that points to that USB external drive) returns 404 error, page cannot be found.
I checked everything, but i still cannot resolve the problem.

Can you please give me some insight on how to do this?
