Go to Tools - Account Setting - RSS Feeds (Tab) and delete the feeds.

I can't find a way to remove the folder, but let try going to Tools - Options- Other (Tab) - Advanced Options and uncheck " Sync RSS Feeds to the Common Feed List."

If this doesn't work I have a way to disable RSS to the point where you can't even add to the Feed list with Group Policy. It's kind of a last resort though. Group Policy can mess things up if it is not used correctly. It's not as bad as messing with the Registry though.

I just got an email that made me feel I did not answer your question. Although I was not able to remove the folder I was able to stop the process as requested. Was that not acceptable?
