TV Tuner scanning - No Signal

I have a new TV Tuner PCI card that I am trying to setup but when I scan for channels it finds nothing, no signal, 0 channels.

I am in the UK, this is supposedly a Freeview TV Tuner card. What am I doing wrong?

TV Tuner: DVB-T EC188 BDA Digital Tuner
Software: Blaze HDTV Player 2.5a

no fuzz, i think the driver is isntalled correctly
Windows sees the card as a Sound,Video and Game Controller, driver is up to date as per the CD
I think Windows should see it as a tuner card if the card's drivers are installed.  It sounds like it just sees it as a regular video card.
In the quick installation guide it shows that the card should appear in the section sound, video and game controllers

aerial is plugged in yes, and the software recognises the device
more info, may be relevant or not ...

I used to have a different tv card in the PC and bought this one to replace it because the old one was analog and could only get 5 channels whereas this new card is digital and can supposedly receive all freeview UK channels (something like 32 channels)

The old card worked ok & I uninstalled the drivers and software for it before installing this one in the same slot
