how do I successfully export schema

I type the following to export:

exp owner=tems_adm file=/tmp/tems_adm_orig.dmp indexes=y constraints=y rows=n log=/tmp/tems_adm_orig.log

But at the end of the export I get these errors:

 EXP-00008: ORACLE error 3113 encountered
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully

can you try this. Your command does not have the username/password supplied.

exp sys/sysdb@testdb owner=scott file=/tmp/tems_adm_orig.dmp indexes=y constraints=y rows=n log=/tmp/tems_adm_orig.log

Thanks

I got the following errors:

EXP-00056: ORACLE error 1017 encountered
ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

The sys password was correct. I can only assume it is because I didn't have the as sysdba

what i meant to say was use an username/password@your_database_name when calling the exp utility.

I think you need to check with your dba or someone who can give you the correct username/password so that you can run your export.

I put in a service request with Oracle. They looked at my alert log file and the trace file generated when I try to export the schema. Then they concluded that it was a result of not applying a daylight saving patch.

The problem is related to the natively compile java shared library being present. Solution:
Backup and remove the following file;
$ORACLE_HOME/javavm/admin/libjox9java_util.so

After following these instructions I was able to perform an export of the schema as well as the entire database.
