When trying to start with on SLES10 the APACHE2 service I get the above error:

Starting httpd2 (worker) httpd2-worker: bad user name wwwrun

I'm running OES services on the server so I'm not using local users/groups.  There was never a wwwuser when it was running.  It stopped running after installation of a application from GWAVA RETAIN which uses a webconsole.

I'm a beginner, and I'm working in a lab environment on this product getting it ready for production.  I've put in a query to the developers, but I'm fishing to see if there is a simple solution from someone who knows this product and Linux.

hdo you have user "wwwrun" defined in your system? if not you need to create on.

Why not run apache (httpd) as user nobody. (you need to edit your configuration file to make the change).

you need to reatart apache after editing the config file.
