Is it possible to use OpenOffice with Microsoft Exchange Mail?

I would like to offer a solution in place of MS Office 2003/outlook. Is this possible?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Microsoft Exchange Mail offer pop3 interfaces, so yes, its possible..

I have MS Windows 2003 SBS Server with XP clients/outlook2003. Are you saying that  I can install open office instead of MS Office 2003 and access Exchange calander/contacts/emails?

There are a few ways you 'can' get it going...

It wont be the Microsoft proprietary methods, and you'd be reduced to doing most things in a web browser, but with OWA, most exchange features are available..
