Unable to backup index.qbs because file is corrupt or being used by another program.

Hello,
My two children have very similar computers. They are both Windows XP, both run Symantec Antivirus, and both use IBM Rescue and Recovery for their nightly backups to a usb harddrive.
One is working fine. The other gets a message every night stating "Cannot backup c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Shared\Qbackup\index.qbs File is corrupted or in use by anther application." I have tried removing and reinstalling both Symantec Antivirus and IBM Rescue and Recovery, but I am still getting the error msg. For some reason the other (very similar) pc does not have a problem with this file.
Any and all suggestions appreciated.
