User to send on behalf of contact in Active Directory

Basically we have 'User A' who needs to be able to send and receive e-mails from 2 different domains (EG: User@Domain1.com & User@Domain2.com). (We are using SBS 2003 & 2 catch all accounts setup)

We thought the best way was to set up the 2nd e-mail address as a contact in AD (rather then a user) then the user can click the from field in outlook and choose which e-mail address to send from.
When doing this we obviously got an error message saying basically we didn't have permission to send on behalf of...

Now I know you can right click and properties on a user account in AD and go to Exchange General and then add user in Delivery Options, but this option is not there for a contact.

Is there a way round this or is the easier options just to create 'User B' and forward e-mails to 'User A' and set the permission as mentioned above?

If you are receiving e-mails from 2 two domains (Example XXX@contoso.com and XXX@Trade.com) in your exchange server why don´t you add the e-mail that you in the e-mail proprieties of the user in question.

You can so create a distribution list and send e-mails using the From. You only need to give the right permissions.

I hope I understand your question.
Hope this could be useful.

From what i have gathered above, the tip you provided was for sending on behalf of another user. If this is the same as sending on behalf of a contact, i'll see what i can do...

The colleage who posted this question has disappeared :/
Please try as suggested. This should work. I'm happy to help out, just give me some feedback on your progress.

It's a bit demotivating not hearing anything while Experts reply to a posted problem :-(

Hope you understand.

Richard.

I am having the same problem. I want to grant a user sending email on behalf of a contact, but don't know how.    Your suggestion only works for sending on behalf of another user, it doesn't work on behalf of a contact. There are no such options for a contact.

I got the answer now. It's hiden under the security tab!!!

   1.  Run the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.
   2. Click the View menu and then make sure that the Advanced Features option is selected. This will make sure you see the Security tab referenced later in step 4.
   3. Locate the contact, goto properties.
   4. Go to the Security tab and click the Add button.
   5. Add in the user that are to be granted permission to send on behalf of this contact, highligh the user account, you can see a whole list of Permissions to be granted,  scroll down and make sure you tick the the Send As permission.
