Outlook 2003 will send but can't receive. Error message # is 0x8004210A
I recently installed Outlook 2003, as an upgrade from a previous version. Since the new install, when I hit the Send/Receive button, I am able to send any email in the outbox, but unable to receive email. The process times out, and I receive this error message:
"Task 'mail.bellsouth.net - Receiving' reported error (0x8004210A) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'"
I have talked to my ISP, who went through the basic settings for a typical email account, but to no avail. They suggested my Norton Internet Security 2007 might be involved, but it wasn't a problem with my earlier version of Outlook.
