Vista Drivers for ASUS A8V-VM SE

Hi, I've just put together a new PC using an ASUS A8V-VM motherboard. I've installed Vista on it and have some problems.

The CDrom that came with the motherboard had only XP drivers on it and I can't seem to find any Vista Drivers. I've checked in device manager and apart from the IDE controller, display adaptor and the network adapter, all drivers are provided by Microsoft.

I have a problem with the integrated 'High Definition Audio Device' which device managers says is installed and working properly but when I try to do anything with it an error message comes up saying I have no audio device installed.

I've tried installing drivers from viaarena.com for the audio device, but I get an error that says that they are the wrong ones.

The BIOS for this motherboard is from 2006. Should I update this?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Andrew

Hi

That's the first place I went to. None of the drivers for this motherboard say that they are for Vista - just XP. When I download them and try to install it says 'not for this operating system'.

Thanks

Andrew
OK, I went back and had another go with the XP drivers from the Asus site.

This installed ok - the PC now says it has a sound device - but Vista says there are known compatability issues and gives me an alert to this effect when I start up.

So, back to my initial question - or maybe no such drivers exist and I have to start again with another motherboard...

has the vista drivers; but oddly not for the sound section - maybe you should contact Asus on this problem
what ADI model does the XP driver list? you can google that or post it here
Thanks for replying

Actually it's not the A8V-VM but the A8V-VM SE motherboard and there are no Vista drivers at all.

In the end, I got a Vista driver from the Realtech site who make the ALC660 onboard sound chip. I installe this and Vista still didn't recognise it properly.

So I've given up. I have moved the hard disk with XP loaded from another PC onto the new one and it's working fine.

I took the Vista hard disk and put it in the formerly XP machine and had less luck. I can't boot from the hard disk and when I boot from the Vista DVD I get a black screen with a mouse pointer and can do no more.

I've diabled lots of things in the BIOS, like SATA controller, that I don't need, but still mo luck.

Any ideas on this one?

Thanks

Andrew
