"File Download" dialog blocked in IE7 sessions

Hi,

We're hosting a web-based app using IE7 on a CPS 4.5 server. Whenever we use the app from a Citrix session and try to download a file the "File Download" dialog box never appears, unless you're holding CTRL when you click the link. However, this is not an issue if you use the app locally on the server. All IE settings are being controlled via Group Policies.

Can anyone shed a little light on this problem, and suggest a possible fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,
Have you tryed to disable the "pop-up blocker" on IE?

Yes.  In the GP editor, all instances of the "pop-up blocker" I could find have been disabled under:

User Config >> Admin Templates >> Win Components >> Internet Explorer
User Config >> Win Setting >> Internet Explorer Maint >> Security >> Security Zones and Content Ratings

CPS 4.5 is running on a Windows Server 2003 machine.
Hi,
Well if you need to use CTRL to be able to dl the file usually it is either a pop up blocker or it could be a firewall / antivirus suite.

I understand what you're saying, and I agree.  However, this is not an issue if you use the web-based app locally on the server.  Only when you connect via a Citrix session.
Hi,
I understand. How do you connect to your citrix session? Via web? ICA Client? Other?

Our Citrix sessions are launched through the Citrix Program Neighborhood.

Also, we're running the same version of Symantec AV on both client and server sides, but it doesn't seem to interfere when running the app on a local instance of IE.
Hi,
Ok, have you tryed to get rid of Norton just as a test.
Now there is something else I would like to clarify. Your app is webbased right? Where is the use of Citrix then?

IE7 is a Citrix published app, with IE7 configured via Group Policies to only allow access to the web app and related pages.

The dialog box does not automatically appear within Citrix sessions, even if Symantec AV is not installed.

I understand your thoughts.  But, as it turns out, providing access to this app to users on the other side of the country via Citrix is actually a lot faster then having them connect normally via a browser.

Thanks, anyway.
