Alert log file size

We are having windows 2003 server that is installed with oracle 10g.
The problem is related to alertlog file.

The file has grown too large (more then 1GB). I just want to control size of alert logfile throught.

Steps:

1. I want to control size. If size reach 10MB take backup of the file or rename with backup with date info like alert_XX.log_03_03_2008. Is there any sample script to handle this process. So that we can schedule in Windows/Linux

2. Is there any new feature in 10g which take care of alert file (intialization parameter, send email if there is are any ORA errors).

Thanks

while under linux there is a tool "logrotate", under windows you just delete/rename the file as needed.
for the rest, just backup the bdump folder...

I think this scripts used for checking the new errors in Alert file. But I want to check size. I need a batch script that can check the alert file size everyday and if size reaches more then 10MB send email to dba
