Can not change the color of text in Outlook 2003 e-mails.

One of our employee's can not change the color of the text when sending emails in outlook.  A complete reinstall of office did not fix the problem.  Under options, the settings have been set to format in HTML and to "always use my fonts."  Even trying to set stationery with a colored font will not change the color to anything other than black.  Any ideas?

Hello SUNYESF,

I assume you change the color text under font settings.

Create a new Outlook profile.

Hope this helps!

Does this happen when replying or fowarding or just when creating a new message, if this happens when just creating a new message, when you open the new message on the top tool bar does it say plain text or html? it might not be hoding the proper format..

It happens all the time, even on a reply or forward.  When creating a new message it says html in the top toolbar.  When selecting the text and choosing to change the color it stays black.  I still havent gotten to try creating a new profile though.
SUNYESF, let us know what happens when you create a new Outlook profile.
I'm also interested to see how this one pans out as I have a user with the exact same symptoms.  I tried him out using both HTML and rich text for his emails with the same results.  He uses Word as the email editor and Word works fine by itself but not in conjunction with Outlook.

I set up a new Outlook profile for the user and it had no effect.  I also futzed with his font settings in Outlook with no joy.  All the other font features work fine:  bold, underline, italics, font type, and font size.  Only the font color is problematic.  I'll post more details as they come up and a solution if I hit on something.

If you open Word itself are you able to change the font color there?
It does indeed work in Word.

Sound good!
GuthrieTheater, you need to ask a new question.  You are confusing the original question with your questions.
Actually it's the same question as the original poster.  At this point we've got a possible solution that will fix the one issue for both of us.  But thanks for your input on the problem.

I just got back from the user's desk.  We created a new Windows profile for him, set up Outlook again, and it worked perfectly.  Thanks Tboy for putting me on the right track.

-Todd
Wonderful! Sunyesf, are you still having this problem?

I had thought that maybe it was simply her outlook profile, so I set up my own e-mail as a profile but it wouldn't prompt me to choose a profile even when I had the box checked.  When I switched windows profiles, the problem was fixed.  Thanks!

Thanks so much for the help! Sorry it took so long for me to respond, but I've been out sick for a couple of days.  I split the points between the two of you because you both noticed that it was a possible windows profile error.  Thanks again!
Excellent!  We have a winner all around!
