Looking Solutions for DR Exchange with NetApp SAN

We currently have a NetApp 3020/270 and are leverging SME (SnapManager for Exchange) to replicate our Exchange Database and Logs over from our primary site to our disaster site.

Basically I'm looking for help in determing the best solution to be able to failover/back Exchange (250 GB database). Our SAN expert recommended a Microsoft Clustered solution with an Active/Passive node in primary and a standby cluster in the disaster site. We also looked into the otpion of software host-based such as Double-Take. But then that would mean SME was a waste. Not a big problem seeing as Double-Take or even Neverfail or Lg3 would be near-real-time recover/failback.

An alternative is virtualising Exchange on VMWare ESX, and using VMWare HA for failover at the primary site.

You can use snapvault or snapmirror to replicate the VM Exchange server images to the DR site, where they can be used for disaster recovery, combined with the replicated Exchange database and logs.
