What are the steps in repairing Internet Explorer 6?

Hi Everyone;

          I have a friend who is having problems with Internet Explorer.  Basically, Mozilla Firefox opens pages well.  However, whenever a page is attempted to be loaded using Internet Explorer 6, it loads very slowly.  Given such a difference, I have come to the conclusion this is a browser problem with Internet Explorer.  WIth that in mind, I am wondering what the necessary steps are in repairing a damaged or corrupt Internet Explorer browswer.

         Any suggestions to this question will be greatly appreciated.  I will look forward to hearing back from everyone.

          Thank you

          George

Hi There;

         Thank you so much for the list of suggestions.  As always, you certainly do a great job outlining all possible options to try out.  And, thank you so much!!!!   Since I just came in from work, it will be tomorrow afternoon before I can try out your great suggestions.  I certainly look forward to going through all of these options.

          Due to the fact that every page loads slowly, I am sure my friend is looking forward to getting this resolved.  I will start the troubleshooting options you have outlined for me and will report back.

           Once again, many thanks for your great help!!!  I will be back in touch with the results.

Hi Everyone;

         I am very pleased to announce the problem of IE being slow in loading pages is now resolved.  Using steps 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 (e.g. using IEFix) outlined by war1, I was able to get the pages to load reasonably fast within IE.  Now, both IE and Firefox run equavalently.

          I went ahead and printed out the information contained within the links supplied as well.  While the information within these links were not used, I do feel confident this information will prove fruitful in the future.

          In any case, reconfiguring the browswer as outlined by war1 in conjunction with the execution of IEFix resolved the IE browswer issue of pages loading very slowly.

           Great job on this one!!!  Many thanks.

George, glad the user IE is fixed.
