Oracle Forms Builder 6 and web services

Hello,

We have old application built using Oracle forms 6 and Oracle 8i Database, and we are building new web service application to retrieve data from other databases.

However, we would like to make our old forms application communicate with new web service application, other application developed using Delphi/.Net and PHP will not have a problem with this, but we are trying to do that same with Oracle forms, is there anyway to use the web services with Oracle forms 6 or forms 6i?

Regards,
Mohammed

Oracle Forms 6 could be used as WEB services (via Jinitiator applet)
if you install and utilize Forms/Reports server.
At the times of Oracle 8i and Developer/2000
this server was placed for evaluation purposes on the installation Disk.
A better approach will be to migrate to Forms 10g (there are some converting routines)
and to use newer technology.

Thanks schwertner,

Can we consume a web services by Forms 6?, for example taking a WSDL link and call the WS inside the forms?, any links or help will be appreciate
Yes, you can invoke Forms 6 or 6i using a browser. So this is not a purely WEB service,
because Jnitiator applet displays the Form on the browser. But I encourage you to
migrate to Forms 10g.
The reason is that Forms 6 will havve troubles speaking with non Oracle 8i databases.
Also time changes ....  Year 2000 is far away.
Forms can invoke other WEB services. But newer versions of Forms are of course more sophisticated.
schwertner,

The problem it will took long time to migrate the application to newer version, because that we looking for a simple way(if possible) to invoking the new web services application(which will be built using .net) form our forms 6.

I tried to googling about how to call web services from forms 6 but I haven't found any thing, do you have any link please?
