No motherboard light - is it definatly the motherboard or could it be the CPU

Hi all

Situation. Computer completely silent when the power button is pressed. No fans twitching. Motherboard LED does not come on.

Checked. Power supply - works with another PC. Also the lights on the keyboard briefly flash when the power cord is inserted into the PSU. Power button on the front of the case bypassed with a motherboard switch testing kit.

I am 99.9% sure this is a failed motherboard but I would just like to make sure it could not be the CPU. Any  confirmation or advice greatfully received.

Did you double check all the obvious? Make sure the separate CPU power cord is plugged into your mainboard? Did you try resetting the CMOS just in case? Double check your memory seating and ensure your memory is plugged into the banks closest to the processor as well.

Also double check your power sw cable, make sure it's plugged into the correct jumper on the board, make sure it's not shorting out the wrong pins.
