Possible to use or import an .vmx file from an other esx server?

Hello everybody,

We have an ESX Server 3.5.0 running for testing and got an old 3.0.2 with VC. Now we tried to cp the directory which contains all the data to the other server but we can't load the vmx... do we need to install VC?

Kind Regards,

Hey dreik,

works awsom... but I have 5 snapshots in that directory. And I can't load them... I allways get the error message:

Cannot open the disk '/vmfs/volumes/477e582f-d44340ee-a24e-011cc461cce6/TEST-SRV1/TEST-SRV1-000006.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. Reason: The parent virtual disk has been modified since the child was created.

Is there a way to fix that? With an editor or vi?

Thanks for your help,

Kind Regards,
